URLs for streaming &amp; downloading are posted below or simply search for &#8220;Chief Disco Investigator&#8221; on your favorite music services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this post, I write about my current music tools and remember the horns in my computer game hits &#8220;<strong><em>Spaceship Warlock Theme<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; and &#8220;<strong><em>You Are Dead<\/em><\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Chief Disco Investigator<\/strong>&#8221; sounds like disco 70&#8217;s, synthpop 80&#8217;s, and typical Joe Sparks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-embed-aspect-16-9\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;Chief Disco Investigator&quot; Song by Joe Sparks\" width=\"760\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dl63RHTqKdg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a listen, and you&#8217;ll hear <strong><em>Radiskull &amp; Devil Doll<\/em><\/strong> style beats &amp; strings, and hints of my music from <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Total_Distortion\">TOTAL DISTORTION<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spaceship_Warlock\">SPACESHIP WARLOCK<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;CDI&#8221; Golden Trombones &amp; Studio One<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I love the horns in my new music <strong>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bqIoW3pAdJU\">Put Your Headphones On.<\/a>&#8220;<\/strong> I thought &#8220;horns are pretty new for me&#8221; but then I remembered that sweet sax solo I played in the <strong>&#8220;You Are Dead&#8221;<\/strong> song in <em><strong>Total Distortion<\/strong><\/em>. I also used horns in my theme song for <em><strong>Spaceship Warlock<\/strong><\/em>. (more on that, below)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.presonus.com\/products\/Studio-One\">Presonus Studio One Professional<\/a><\/strong> is my DAW since 2017 (DAW = music recording software\/UI where I make music), and I highly recommend it (Previously: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/logic-pro\/\">Apple Logic Pro<\/a> and many others). For the actual horns, I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/s1manual.presonus.com\/Content\/Built-In_Instruments_Topics\/Presence_XT.htm\">Presence XT<\/a> brass instruments (bundled with S1): &#8220;Trumpet Full&#8221; and &#8220;Golden Trombone&#8221; instruments, unmodified. The drums are mostly played by me on my own custom drum machine (Built in Impact XT, including samples I recorded from the Alesis SR-16), and also, the &#8220;Natural Kit&#8221; on Presense XT. When someone talks about Spaceship Warlock, they often sing it: \u201cAAAAH.. Horns played on the ~1988 Roland D110<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I used my rack-mount Roland D110 synth for the theme song\u2019s military horns &amp; drums. Horns preset instrument). I used all 3 synths I bought in 1988 on Warlock music: the Roland D-110 and Juno 2 (I still have both instruments in my office) and the Yamaha DX11 (after 3rd key broke I gave it away).
